Since they first won the coveted Currie Cup in 1976, the Toyota Cheetahs won the cup four times and shared it once.

They won the Currie Cup in 2005, shared it the following year.
2006
Shared the Currie Cup
Shared the Currie Cup with the Blue Bulls.
2007
Won the Currie Cup
After sharing the cup in 2006, they won it again in 2007.
1999 to 2009
Reached the semi-finals
From 1999 to 2009, the Cheetahs reached the semi-finals ten consecutive times. Free State rugby union also made a significant contribution to transformation through player development.

The rugby culture in Bloemfontein is perhaps best illustrated by the international coaches who started their careers at the Toyota State Cheetahs. They include SARU’s Director of Rugby, Rassie Erasmus, Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber, Springbok scrum coach Daan Human, the Blitzbokke’s former coach, Neil Powell, former Springbok assistant coach Brendan Venter, and Franco Smith, Italy’s Director of Rugby. The Free State Cheetahs have produced 87 Springboks, 49 Sevens Springboks and 8 women Springboks in its 127 years of existence.
